Merry Christmas!

Curt & Kallie arrived just in time for Christmas Eve dinner. Sadly I did not get a picture of us gathered around the table. The table was beautifully set with a white lace tablecloth, red chargers, white dinner plates, cute mitten silverware holders, crystal goblets (from the dollar store :), crystal candlesticks with white taper lit candles, name tags, etc. very lovely. For dinner we had roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, orange & cranberry & pineapple jello, green salad, rolls and for dessert pumpkin & berry Christmas pies with whip cream. It was all so yummy! After dinner was cleaned up we read the Christmas story complete with the Nativity with acting from the small children with the exception of Dan for a shepherd and Gabe as Joseph (who looked a bit old for our sweet Mary played by Caroline, but who else could keep baby Jesus, played by Spencer, laying on the ottoman and feed him at the same time?). At least the shepherds didn't run away with the sheep this year. After the Nativity came a talent show. Caroline sang a song for us from her preschool Christmas program that she had to start 3 times because people kept interrupting her and she insisted she was not done. It was a very L O N G song. Grace told us jokes and Lila & Brigitte danced to "Shake Your Bootie" which was hilarious! Then it was time for baths and bed for the little ones. The adults played games. Jayna & Tyler gave us the funnest game; it is called Sabateur and is loads of fun. We played it all weekend. After the kids were asleep the fun really began; putting together a jumping horse, bikes and scooters and filling socks. I was the last one up making sure cameras were charged and all the last minute gifts were out. I told Christy that I had returned a cute suitcase that I had gotten for Brigitte at the last minute had switched it for another one. She was really disappointed because she had liked the other one. I didn't tell her that I was surprising her with it Christmas morning! and boy was she surprised! We stayed up until 1:00 pm then off to bed until 7:30 am. Dan got up and started a fire, we kept the children in our room until we were all in our positions with cameras & video cameras to capture the moments. There was a candy trail that led from our room to the living room so of course when the kids opened the door they saw the candy and immediately began eating it! Finally they got to their socks and the living room full of presents! I think everyone had a great Christmas - I know we did! It was so much fun having everyone here and doing nothing for 3 days except squeezing Spencer (or Butters as he is affectionately known) eating, sledding, playing games on the WII, playing Sabateur, eating some more, watching Home Alone and staying in our pajamas. We did have one mishap. Grace smashed her face sledding and almost knocked out her two front teeth. She came in looking like she had run into a tree - blood everywhere and 2 loose front teeth. Tyler & Jayna have a friend in their ward who is a Dentist and he looked at them when they got home and thought they were going to be okay. We sure hope so! Here are some pictures from our Christmas weekend.
